HH The Amir Inaugurates Qatar National Library
His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani patronized this evening the inauguration ceremony of the Qatar National Library, at the library’s building. HH The Amir signed the official certificate of the library which announces the library's official inauguration, and placed the one millionth book, a rare copy of Sahih Al Bukhari of more than 843 years, on library's shelves.
HH The Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development attended the inauguration ceremony.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers of Oman Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Assistant Prime Minister of Turkey Bakir Buzdag, Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al Sabah, Kuwaiti Minister of Diwan Amiri Affairs and Envoy of the Amir of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, and HRH Princess Lalla Hasna, representative of King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
Former President of Turkey Abdullah Gul, former President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, former President of Kosovo Atifa Yahya Agha, and former Prime Minister of Italian Republic Matteo Renzi also attended the inauguration ceremony.
The ceremony was also attended by a number of Their Excellencies sheikhs, ministers, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the State, and guests.

After the inauguration ceremony, HH The Amir, HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser along with Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers of the Sultanate of Oman HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said and HRH Princess Lalla Hasna, representative of HM King Mohammed VI of Morocco toured the library and viewed some of items that exceeds more than 50,000 items including manuscripts in the fields of medicine, mathematics, astronomy, engineering and other sciences, besides historical documents, old books from the beginnings of the printing age, historical maps, old photographs, ancient navigational and astronomical instruments.
HH The Amir and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser attended dinner banquet hosted in the library on the occasion of its inauguration and honoring Their Excellencies Heads of states, government representatives and guests.
