Biography

Birth and Study

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani assumed his position as Deputy Amir of the State of Qatar on 11 November 2014 in accordance with the Amiri Order issued by His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

His Highness was born on 9 February 1988 in Doha where he completed his primary and secondary education. He graduated from Georgetown University in Qatar in 2010, with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree.

In addition to his responsibilities as Deputy Amir, His Highness Serves as General Supervisor of the Private Amiri Diwan, Chairman of the Board of Regents of Qatar University, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment, Chairman of the Board of Directors of QatarEnergy, and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Foundation for Social Care. He Also supervises the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (Daam).

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Investment Authority, from 3 December 2014 to 3 November 2018, and served as Chief of the Amiri Diwan from 20 December 2011 to 10 November 2014.

In addition to his native Arabic, he is also fluent in English.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah is married and has five children.
