The Amiri Decorations

Decoration title
Al Wajbah Decoration

Al Wajbah Decoration is bestowed on foreign ambassadors accredited to the State (on the basis of reciprocity), deputy ministers, undersecretaries and ambassadors. It may be granted to others in recognition of their valuable services to the State or to humanity.

It is modeled, in design and shape, on Qatari spearhead  upright against a background of geometrical architecture. There are two pearl beads on both sides. In the middle circle it bears the inscription: "Al Wajaba" with Arabic Thuluth calligraphy.

It is made of 18ct yellow and white gold and studded with 184 stones of diamonds and sapphires representing the colors of the Flag of Qatar.

Khanjar of Abdullah bin Jassim

This decoration is bestowed on ministers and those of equal rank in recognition of their valuable services rendered to the State or to humanity.

It may be granted to others in recognition of their valuable actions rendered to the State or to humanity.

This decoration is a replica of the original Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani Khanjar. The gold elements are all sterling silver with 24 carat gold-plating.

The leather is soft black fine calf leather, and the embroidery is handcrafted with a 2% gold wire. The handle is in a rich sapeli wood, in the same colour as the original handle. The pearls are the same size and colour of the original.

Sash of Hamad bin Khalifa

This decoration is bestowed on crown princes, deputy heads of state, prime ministers, speakers of parliamentary bodies, members of trusteeship councils, deputy prime ministers, ministers and those of equal rank.

It may be granted to others in recognition of their valuable actions rendered to the State or to humanity.

It’s made of 18ct yellow gold, and consists of two circles, with edges studded with diamonds. The emblem of the State of Qatar is engraved on one circle, while the other bears the inscription: "Hamad bin Khalifa", in Arabic Thuluth calligraphy.

Its clip is adorned with pearl beads. It is modeled after traditional Qatari cloak (Bishit) embroidery.

Founder Sword

The Founder’s Sword of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.

Highest decoration. It is carried and bestowed by the Amir of the State on kings, princes and heads of state (both incumbent and former). It may be bestowed on others in recognition of their extraordinary or exceptional services rendered to the State or to humanity.

The sword has been copied as closely as possible to the original descriptions of component parts of the Sword of the Founder of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani (1827- 1913).

The sword scabbard and decoration is made of 18ct yellow gold. There is a hallmark near the base of the sword. The handle of the sword  has grips of camel bone. The first section of the scabbard has been hand chased and is set with Tourmaline and Garnet stones.

The Military Decorations

The Order of Tamim bin Hamad Al- Thani’s Military Sword

It is the highest Military Order that shall be awarded to top leadership posts, honoring and appreciating their outstanding effort and sincerity.

The Military Order of Al shalfa

Shall be awarded to the military or civilian leaders from foreign countries who perform distinguished services and duties that contribute in enhancing the mutual co-operation between the State of Qatar and other countries

The Martyr’s Order

Shall be awarded in the name of a martyr, in recognition and appreciation of the sacrifice and bravery offered by him in the performance of his national duty, and in order to commemorate his life and honor his relatives.

The Gallantry Order

Shall be awarded to someone who performs exceptional heroic acts of gallantry, bravery and who also shows an extraordinary ability in sacrificing.

Order of Military Duty First Class

Shall be awarded to those who perform outstanding tasks characterized by high efficiency and distinction, and manifest loyalty and dedication in performing duty. It shall be awarded in accordance with the following order of sequence:

The First Class: For the rank of major general and higher or for its equivalent of the special grade and higher for the civil servants.

Order of Military Duty Second Class

Shall be awarded to those who perform outstanding tasks characterized by high efficiency and distinction, and manifest loyalty and dedication in performing duty. It shall be awarded in accordance with the following order of sequence:

The Second class: for the rank of brigadier and colonel and for their equivalent of the first and second grade of the civil servants.

Order of Military Duty Third Class

Shall be awarded to those who perform outstanding tasks characterized by high efficiency and distinction, and manifest loyalty and dedication in performing duty. It shall be awarded in accordance with the following order of sequence:

The Third Class: for the rank of let. Colonel and major and for their equivalent in the third and fourth grade of the civil servants.

Order of Military Duty Fourth Class

Shall be awarded to those who perform outstanding tasks characterized by high efficiency and distinction, and manifest loyalty and dedication in performing duty. It shall be awarded in accordance with the following order of sequence:

The Fourth Class: for the ranks of captain to lieutenant, and for their equivalent of the fifth to seventh grade for the civil servants.

Order of Military Duty Fifth Class

Shall be awarded to those who perform outstanding tasks characterized by high efficiency and distinction, and manifest loyalty and dedication in performing duty. It shall be awarded in accordance with the following order of sequence:

The Fifth Class: for other ranks and for their equivalent of the eighth grade or below for the civil servants, guards, facility guards and professional soldiers.

The Order of Military Merit

Shall be awarded to whoever performs a magnificent service worth of recognition.

The Order of Military Service First Class

Shall be awarded to whoever performed an actual continuous service in Military Authority not less than twenty years, and who has been distinguished throughout his service by sincerity and dedication, the order shall be awarded as per the following order of sequence:

The First Class: For the officers and for their equivalent in the ranks of the seventh grade and higher from the civil servants.

The Order of Military Service Second Class

Shall be awarded to whoever performed an actual continuous service in Military Authority not less than twenty years, and who has been distinguished throughout his service by sincerity and dedication, the order shall be awarded as per the following order of sequence:

The Second Class: for the other ranks, or for their equivalent of the eighth grade and below of the civil servants, guards, facility guards and professional soldiers.
