HH The Amir and President of Ecuador Hold Session of Talks

His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HE President Lenin Moreno of the Republic of Ecuador, held an official session of talks, on Monday evening at the Presidential "Carondelet Palace" in Quito, capital of Ecuador.

At the beginning of the meeting, HE the President welcomed HH The Amir and the accompanying delegation, noting the warm welcome by the Ecuadorian people to His Highness, and expressing his hope that the visit will contribute to deepening and developing relations of the two friendly countries and enhance them to further partnership and investment.

HE the President mentioned that the meeting with HH The Amir dealt with ways of enhancing cooperation in fields of common interest, especially energy, infrastructure and many more .

For his part, HH The Amir expressed his thanks to HE the President and the Ecuadorian people for their hospitality and warm reception accorded to him and the accompanying delegation .

HH The Amir stated that the relationship between the two countries is solid and strong built on mutual trust, stressing that the visit will be a new start to further strengthen relations, in different areas particularly economy and trade.

HH The Amir expressed the confidence of the State of Qatar in the Ecuadorian economy, its investment climate, and the outcome of the technical meetings, noting that Qatar’s investments are for future generations of Qatar. He also praised Ecuador's positions toward the just issues in the Arab world.

The expanded talks dealt with ways of strengthening the cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic and social fields, where HH The Amir and HE the President affirmed their keenness to promote the political dialogue between the two countries in addition to the effective cooperation in energy, tourism, infrastructure, environment protection, youth and sport.

HH The Amir also discussed ways of activating the agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between the two sides in order to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.

In the regional and international fields, the latest developments were reviewed as HH The Amir and HE the President stressed the importance of continuing close coordination on common issues at multilateral organizations and international forums such as the United Nations and the Group of 77.

On the Middle East issues, HE the President praised Qatar's firm stance towards the Palestinian cause, and Qatar's handling of the Gulf crisis, expressing the importance of resolving it through dialogue and diplomatic means.

At the end of the talks, HH The Amir invited HE the President to visit the State of Qatar, and HE the President welcomed the invitation.

The session was attended by Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH The Amir.

On the Ecuadorian side, it was attended by a number of Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials.
