HH The Amir and UK Parliament Members Discuss Bilateral Relations, Regional Developments
His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Monday discussed with a number of Their Excellencies members of the House of Lords and House of Commons at the headquarters of the Parliament, the historical ties between the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom, and aspects of deepening the friendship ties and developing mutual cooperation.
Views on emerging issues in the Middle East region were also exchanged.
At the outset of the session, HE Member of the House of Commons, Alistair Carmichael, welcomed HH The Amir to the meeting, expressing the significance of ties between Qatar and the United Kingdom, and aspiring to develop them.
In turn, HH The Amir voiced his appreciation of the firmness of strategic and strong relationship between the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom that extends back to several years, highlighting how the two countries stood side by side in difficult circumstances, and stressing the State of Qatar's support for the UK in any difficulties it encounters.
HH The Amir noted that Qatar has become one of the biggest investors in the UK, expressing Qatar's trust in the UK economy and investment environment despite the UK move to exit the European Union, which has not discouraged Qatar from continuing to invest in Britain.
