HH The Amir Attends Reception of US Chamber of Commerce in Washington
His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended Tuesday evening the reception held by the US-Qatar Business Council and the USA Chamber of Commerce, at the Chamber's headquarters, on the occasion of HH The Amir's visit to Washington DC.
HH The Amir delivered a welcoming speech on the occasion, in which he highlighted the most prominent features of the Qatari-US economic cooperation. HH The Amir said that there are more than 650 US companies operating in Qatar and the size of trade cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United States reached $125 billion, and that the plan aims to double these figures in the near future.
HH The Amir pointed out that Qatar is the fastest growing economy in the Middle East and expressed the hope to work hand in hand with the United States.
HE US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, HE US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, HE President and Board Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of the USA Tom J. Donohue, HE President of the US-Qatar Business Council Ambassador Anne Patterson, and HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani delivered speeches highlighting the strong Qatari-US relations and the joint cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investment as well as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries and promising future opportunities in these areas for the benefit of both countries and friendly peoples.
They also noted the strong Qatari economy and the volume of the rapid growth despite the blockade, referring to the success of Qatari projects, which benefit the two sides and the common interest.
The reception was attended by a number of ministers, a number of current and former members of Congress and a number of Ambassadors, prominent politicians, businessmen and economy figures in the United States.
On the Qatari side, it was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying HH The Amir and a number of businessmen.
HH The Amir and the audience exchanged views on ways to enhance cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United States, especially in Washington, DC, in various politics, economy, trade and investment fields.
