HH The Amir, President of Indonesia Joint Statements
His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HE President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo spoke in a joint statements to press on Wednesday after the signing ceremony of the agreements at the Bogor Presidential Palace in the capital Jakarta.
At the beginning, HE the Indonesian President expressed his pleasure at receiving HH The Amir in Indonesia, describing HH's visit as a very important event as it is the first state visit of HH The Amir to the Republic of Indonesia and it is a symbolic visit as it coincides with the passage of 41 years of the Qatari-Indonesian diplomatic relations.
HE the Indonesian President noted the economic nature of this visit, praising at the same time the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed in various fields.
HE said that during the talks the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, especially in the infrastructure and tourism sectors, and agreed to follow up what was discussed during the meetings held between the two sides, looking forward to further investment in Indonesia. HE also referred to the Indonesian community residing in Qatar and their contribution to the development, pointing out that the two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation and maintain the unity of the nation in the face of various challenges.
For his part, HH The Amir expressed pleasure over his visit to the Republic of Indonesia, noting the issues of mutual interest that were addressed during the talks, especially in the areas of investment, infrastructure, energy and tourism.
HH The Amir also noted the agreement signed between the two countries to complete the follow-up of the topics that have been agreed upon, expressing optimism for positive results after this visit.
His Highness pointed out that Indonesia is an important country in our Islamic world and the talks dealt with several issues, including the Rohingya issue and their suffering, adding that there must be an urgent solution and that the State of Qatar has provided assistance and this is the duty of countries to provide assistance to affected people. HH also said that the Myanmar government must put an end to this problem.
Moreover, HH The Amir indicated that the unjust siege on Qatar and its humanitarian effects on the people of Qatar and the Gulf countries were also discussed, stressing that Qatar is always ready for dialogue to resolve these issues because there is no winner, we are all brothers and we are all losers due to this crisis, and therefore Qatar is open to dialogue in accordance with agreements binding on all parties to respect the sovereignty of states.
HH The Amir concluded his press statement wishing the Indonesian President and people further success and bilateral relations further consolidation for the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
