HH The Amir and President of Guinea Hold Official Talks
His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HE the President of the Republic of Guinea Professor Alpha Conde, held formal talks at Sheraton Hotel in Conakry this morning.
At the beginning of the meeting, HE the President welcomed HH The Amir and the accompanying delegation, thanking him for visiting his country. His Excellency stressed the importance of this visit in strengthening relations between the two countries, and expressed the desire of the Republic of Guinea to expand cooperation with the State of Qatar in various fields.
For his part, HH The Amir expressed his thanks to HE the President and the Guinean people for their hospitality, and hoped that his first visit to the Republic of Guinea would enhance cooperation and friendship between the two countries to serve the common interests of the two friendly peoples.
The talks dealt with bilateral relations and ways to develop cooperation, especially in the areas of energy, economy, investment and food security, as well as expanding cooperation in other fields for the benefit of both countries and peoples.
Both sides discussed the current developments at the regional and international levels and the danger of terrorism and extremism to the region and to the world. Both sides affirmed the two countries' steadfast stance in combating this dangerous phenomena which undermine the security of the region and the world.
The talks also dealt with the challenges faced by some African countries economically, socially and developmentally. HH The Amir stressed the continued support of the State of Qatar to a number of African countries, especially in the fields of development, health and education.
Regarding the Gulf crisis, HE the President of Guinea and President of the African Union affirmed that the Union's position is to support the Kuwaiti mediation to solve the crisis through dialogue. For his part, HH The Amir expressed his thanks and appreciation to HE the President of Guinea in particular and the African Union in general for their position towards the current Gulf crisis.
The meeting was attended by Their Excellences members of the official delegation accompanying HH The Amir and Their Excellences ministers and senior officials from the Guinean side.
