HH The Amir, UK Prime Minister Discuss Relations and International Issues
His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with the UK Prime Minister Theresa May at the British Prime Ministry on Thursday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a host of regional and international issues, especially the developments in the Middle East region, most notably the situation in Syria and the need to lift the blockade and suffering endured by the Syrian people as well as the need to stop the forced displacement and the importance of activating the international solutions and putting them into effect.
The meeting also discussed the issue of terrorism with its serious repercussions and worsening threat to the security and stability of the world, as well as the need to address the causes of this issue on both regional and international levels.
At the outset of the meeting, Theresa May welcomed HH The Amir, stressing that the visit is an important step in the development of bilateral relations in various fields and looking forward to advance the future cooperation between the two countries at various levels.
HH The Amir expressed pleasure at the meeting, pointing out that the Qatari-British relations are strong, strategic and historic, adding that the two countries are tied with joint cooperation in various fields. HH The Amir reiterated Qatar's openness and keenness on promoting these relations.
HH The Amir and the UK Prime Minister discussed bilateral ties and means to further develop them in the fields of education, research, development, economy and investments in addition to the importance utilizing the investment and trade opportunities to cement the relations between the two nations and achieve their common interests.
The meeting was attended by Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH The Amir. On the British side it was attended by a number of ministers.
