Qatar, United Mexican States Hold Official Talks
The State of Qatar and the United Mexican States held this afternoon a session of official talks at the Presidential Palace in the Mexican capital, Mexico City, chaired by HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and President Enrique Pena Nieto of the United Mexican States.
At the beginning of the meeting the Mexican President welcomed HH The Amir of Qatar, and praised the cooperation relations between the two countries.
For his part, HH The Amir expressed to the Mexican President his delight with the visit and voiced confidence that it will contribute to strengthening friendly relations between the two countries and further areas of mutual cooperation.
The two sides discussed aspects of boosting bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of developing them in all fields, particularly in economy and investment.
Discussions also dealt with a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest and the latest developments in the Middle East.
Then, HH The Amir and the President of Mexico witnessed signing of a number of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the two countries including a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Central Bank (QCB), and the Bank of Mexico, which aims to develop and strengthen bilateral relations in the field of legal competence, a Memorandum of Understanding between Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, investment and technology that aims to work on the development of trade and economic cooperation between the companies, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of youth between Qatar's Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Mexican Youth Institute of the United Mexican States, which aims to develop bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in the field of youth through organizing joint activities.
HH The Amir and the Mexican President also witnessed the signing of an air services agreement between the State of Qatar and the United Mexican States, which aims to introduce direct flights for air transport between the two countries with full rights to freedom of the third and freedom fourth of the movement as well as the Convention on Technical Cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United Mexican States, which aims to develop cooperation in economic, trade and technical fields, industry, mining, energy, agriculture, telecommunications, transportation, construction, labor, tourism, culture, education, science and technology, and others.
HH The Amir and the President of Mexico held a meeting ahead of the talks session to review the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways of enhancing them to wider horizons.
