HH The Amir Attends Dinner Banquet Hosted by President of India
His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended a dinner banquet hosted by President Mukherjee at the Presidential Palace in honour of HH The Amir and the accompanying delegation.
President Mukherjee greeted HH The Amir and the accompanying delegation, stressing that the two countries have strong historical relations, and expressed confidence the visit of HH The Amir would contribute to the strengthening of relations between them.
"Our two countries have deep and rich connections based on geographic proximity and cultural commonalities", President Mukherjee said, adding: "There is a lot that we can do together to realise the existing potential in our trade and investment ties".
President Mukherjee said India deeply values Qatar as a reliable source of energy, stressing that it is time to convert the two countries' commercial synergies into a deeper partnership through India-Qatar joint ventures. "Qatar has generously embraced a large numbers of Indian expatriates and has encouraged them to flourish and prosper, for which we thank you", he added.
HH The Amir expressed satisfaction at the expansion in relations between the two countries in various fields, especially volume of trade and in the spheres of energy, culture, education and health.
HH The Amir lauded the role of the Indian community in Qatar and its contribution to the development process of the country.
The banquet was attended by India's Vice-President, Hamid Ansari, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside a number of Ministers, senior officials and businessmen.
