HH The Amir Attends Ceremony of His Highness' International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award
His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended the ceremony of His Highness's Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award which was held at Sheraton Doha Hotel this morning.
At the beginning of the ceremony, HH The Amir unveiled the sixth edition of the award monument in Dafna Park.
The award ceremony was attended by HE President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame, HE FIFA President Gianni Infantino, HE Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Office and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna Dr. Ghada Fathi Waly, members of the Supreme Committee and the Advisory Council choosing the award winners and a number of international personalities specialized in the award.
It was also attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Their Excellencies sheikhs, ministers and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the State, senior officials and guests of the ceremony.
HH The Amir also honored the winners Prof. Sope Williams-Elegbe from the United Kingdome and Prof. Ernesto Savona from the Republic of Italy, won the award for Academic Research and Education, as well as honoring the Youth Against Corruption (YAC) institution for the Republic of Lebanon and Koalisi Anti Korupsi of Collective Action Coalition Against Corruption (KAKI) from the Republic of Indonesia, who won the award for Youth Creativity and Engagement.
HH The Amir also honored Hopewell Chin'ono from the Republic of Zimbabwe, who won the award for innovation / Investigative Journalism, Prof. Lisa A Kehl from the United States of America, who won the award for Safeguarding Sports From Corruption, and John Githongo from the Republic of Kenya who won the award for Lifetime / Outstanding Achievement.
The ceremony included displaying a short movie around the award, its history, and its winners. The ceremony also included a speech for HE President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame, HE Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Ghada Waly, and HE Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center and UN Special Advocate on the Prevention of Corruption (UNODC) Ali bin Fetais Al Marri.
